Feeds
Sharp Sources reads public RSS feeds that publishers provide for syndication, plus each league's official team news feeds. Where a publisher offers a public news API instead (for example ESPN), we use that in the same way.
Updates every 15 minutes
The site is rebuilt automatically about every 15 minutes. If a feed is briefly unavailable, we keep showing its most recent headlines for up to six hours; after that its card is hidden until the feed returns. Feeds that haven't published anything in 30 days are dropped.
Trending
Trending groups headlines from different outlets that are about the same story, based on shared names and keywords in the titles, and ranks them by how many outlets are covering it. Odds, picks and other betting previews are left out.
Labels
JUST IN means published in the last 30 minutes and NEW in the last 3 hours. INJURY, TRADE, SIGNING, RUMOR and VIDEO are added automatically from words in the headline, so they can occasionally be wrong. Tap any label, or use the filter bar, to show only those headlines. Betting previews are collapsed into one row per outlet.
Attribution
Each headline shows the outlet that published it and links to the original article. Summaries are the short descriptions publishers include in their own feeds, trimmed to about two sentences.
Removal requests
Publishers can ask us to remove or correct a feed, a headline or a summary at any time. See Contact.
